Northeastern's Semester System

Northeastern's academic year consists of a Fall and Spring semester, each lasting around 14 weeks, and a Summer that is split into two half semesters, Summer 1 and Summer 2. The latest academic calendar with exact dates can be found on the registrar's website.

During Fall and Spring semesters, a typical full-time course-load is 4 four-credit classes, and only 2 four-credit classes during each Summer half semester. A six-month co-op fits into the semester system as either Summer II and Fall (July - December) or Spring and Summer I (January - June).
