How to Handle Student Health Insurance

By Massachusetts state law, all students full-time and part-time must have a certain level of health insurance. For undergraduate students, Northeastern automatically enrolls students in the NU Student Health Plan (NUHSP) and it will appear on the billing statement unless it is waived. This is a yearly process that occurs before the Fall semester.

Waiving the Health Plan

If a student already has sufficient health insurance, they don't need the NUHSP, but they need to fill out a form to waive the NUHSP and avoid paying its cost. For 2022, the waiver deadline is September 16, 2022.
